My main question is what will be possible long term after fusion.
My story, I have had back problems for 10 years now. My first mild herniation in 97 and delt with it for 4 years til I could'nt take the leg pain anymore. Then I had a micro discectamy in 01 and was is in good shape for about 7 years.
Then redamaged the same disc had micro discectamy #2 in Aug of 08 and returned to work 8 weeks later (big mistake) worked 3 or 4 weeks and disc shattered. Then came L5S1 fusion 4 days ago just came home from hospital yesturday . Pain is there but getting better. I had screws and roRAB with bone used from decompresion. I have a thing about not asking enough questions when I should. So I'm trying to see what others have been able to do.
I'm a machinist by trade and lift and bend alot with some heavy lifting involved 50# plus.
I have been told by others to look for something else that doing that kind of work will just put strain on the next level and will probably just keep destroying discs.
Just looking for thoughts or what others have done.
