after dispute, how long for score to go up?

In 2008, my husband paid off a charged off credit card. The collection agency reported it paid to the credit bureaus. The original bank never reported it paid or settled. He is disputing this with the 3 credit bureaus. Considering that this should have been updated in 2008, once this is corrected will his score go up immediately?
