After cytokinesis, number of chromosomes compared to original cell?

hmm...i used to think that the number of chromosomes was half the amount in the daughter cells, but tats meiosis, so...does cytokinesis, at the end of mitosis produce the same amount of chromosomes in each daughter cell or is it the same amount of chromosomes? like humans have 46. if mitosis happens, will the 2 daughter cells each still have 46 or 23?
