After basic training in the army" Where did you get stationed"?

I am about to enlist in the army and honestly I am quite a bit nervous not about basic training but, after basic training which is in a few weekes. I say this because I am a very family oriented person and my family and I are very close to, and it does make the pit of my stomach cringe because I have no idea where I could be stationed. I know that it is not up to me but I am hoping for something atleast in the US, over seas would be an great experience as well but the thought of leaving them just hurts. So I am asking my fellow army enlisties lol, after basic training whwere did you get stationed and was it on you list of choices. Did you get wat u wanted or not and how did you feel about it.
 
I went to language school. Then AIT.

My first duty assignment was Fort Drum, NY. 25 miles from Canada. FREEZING. INSANE cold. But that's okay, we were deployed to Iraq most winters anyways.

I wanted Germany or maybe Georgia or Virginia. I wasn't terribly happy with the geographic location. My parents (former Army) laughed so hard when they found out I got Drum. But I knew the unit was a good one, and I wasn't disappointed in that. It is an excellent unit.
