...damage. No one can figure out? why he has it though? He's had 2 MRIs which shows negative for anything abnormal, an EMG which showed nerve damage, a regular physical exam and tons of blood work that only showed high ACE levels. His most recent doctor, a neurosurgeon, performed a sural nerve biopsy that shows severe nerve damage which looks permanent so far where it's gone. They did a simple test where my dad lays down and pulls his toes up towards the ceiling while the doctor tries to pull it down and my dad couldn't resist any force put on that foot (his left). They've ruled out any type of infection or tumor causing this. He hasn't had any injuries, minor or major, basically in his 59 years of life and now he's walking around with a cane.
His neurosurgeon is referring him to another one for a second opinion, which will really be his 5th or 6th opinion total this year and no one can figure out what is wrong or how to stop it from spreading. It started in his foot and has gone up to his hip. In the beginning there was a small rash on his calf, which I have read can be caused by nerve damage.
Does anyone have any opinion on what this can possibly be? I have done alot of research and found tibial nerve dysfunction which matches his symptoms but I'm not a doctor. He's taking numerous medications and pain patches with barely any relief. Please help!
Both of my parents are in need of a medical miracle. My mom's been fighting cancer for over 12 years and unfortunately there's nothing I can do besides pray and support her. At least I can do something for my dad.
Obviously, no one is going to care as much as I do but I truly hope someone can give some me some help and hope, not just be a smart alec.
