I'm looking for a wedding photographer in the Stockton, CA. area with a budget package below $1000. I don't want an engagement session, I don't want a trash the dress session, I don't want all-day coverage. I want someone to show up with a camera, do a half hour session with me (the bride) and my bridesmaids before the wedding, a half hour session with the groom and his men, a half hour session with me and my groom, then the wedding itself (45 minutes, tops), and an hour right afterwards of everyone. Hand me the memory card (or mail me a CD/DVD later) and leave. Three hours, four tops.

Please and thank you. :-)

P.S. please no lectures about how important photography is, how I shouldn't stimp on the pricetag- trust me, if I could afford it I've got my fav photographer already picked out- at ten grand. Knowing great photography isn't important doesn't mean I can afford it.

I think this is a pretty cool idea! I am thinking about it myself for our wedding! Take a look. It would save you a lot and your friends would have lots of fun with it! It would leave you to enjoy and not worry! You would relax and have fun and they would snap away at you! HEHE
Hope it works out!

I would look around and see if any of your friends or family members are good photographers. My husband and I ended up hiring one of our friends who was an amateur photographer, but had done some other weddings for fun. He did everything for about $400, and did a wonderful job!

You could also try a local college. Some colleges that have photography programs have students who will do sessions to get the experience. :)

I never had a photographer and we had family take the pictures. They all turned out very nicely.

With the advent of Digital SLR's, there are now more and more budding would-be professional photographers.

I know personally, I'd be happy to shoot a wedding for very little money for the experience.

Check into your local colleges/community colleges etc, and send an email to the photography instructors there. State that you are willing to give a student photographer a chance to photograph your wedding for a very low price (and food) and in return, they may use you has a reference if the pictures turn out well.

Good Luck!
