Hello. I recently started having anxiety attacks at my job that last around 10 minutes. I have had my job for 5 years but within the last month I come in to work and almost instantly I start shaking, can't talk and my heart rate sky rockets. I have been going into the bathroom and I try to calm myself down. I went to a doctor yesterday and she put me on CITALOPRAM and gave me a small dosage of Alprazolam.

I never have anxiety attacks outside of work and only recently started having them. I don't want to medicate myself but I'm so nervous coming into work that I'm making myself have anxiety attacks. I exercise and eat healthy, so I'm at a loss of right now and looking for any advice.

Thanks

Review what is going on at work.

1. Do you work in a high stress job?
2. Do you have a lot of anxiety when you have lots of things due?
3. Are you happy in what you are doing?
4. Are your managers helpful and understanding?

Often when people have anxiety attacks, etc., in new environments or situations, they can associate the place or thing with anxiety and once at that place or around those things people can have anxiety. 1st you anticipate the situation and what will happen, get yourself worked up a bit and once there it can get more intense possibly leading to phobias and avoiding certain situations, places, or things.

I have sooo been there. If I were you, I'd take the meRAB. The less anxiety you experience, the easier it will be to get over it in that situation.

Check out a book called "neural path therapy".

Hang in there, you're ok, you'll make it through. :)
