advice on making my not very good raliegh race bike good?

hi i have a raliegh airlite 200 racing bike which i would like to improve with carbon forks. Does anyone have any advive on which forks are compatible or what else would be worth doing to improve it or do you think maybe not worth it with the frame it has any advice would be helpful thank you
