Advice on discussing weight issues with a teenager...?

Not A Supermum!

My 13 year old sister is coming to stay with me soon and I'd like to talk to her about her eating habits. My dad is her sole parent now and he is terrible with food - and basically refuses to fight her attitude about it. She is incredibly picky - like the type of picky eating you expect with a 4 year old. She mostly eats chips (fries to our overseas friends) and chicken nuggets, very little fruit and veg and has some funny 'quirks' about eating - such as she can't eat certain foods if they're touching each other, but will eat them seperately. She has always been slim, but in the last year has started gaining. She's not exactly overweight yet, but she's heading that way. She binge eats a lot and spends all her money on sweets and junk food.
Does anyone have any advice how I can approach this without offending her? I want her to realise that she has to change these habits now before they're stuck with her for life.
Thanks.

well, as a teenage girl, i am very sensitive about my weight and appearance.
you COULD show her Supersize Me? it's a great movie- I never wanted a chicken nugget after that lol.
if she's really stubborn about eating only fries and nuggets, watch modeling shows..

when you confront her, talk to her not about her weight, but about her health as a whole... the type of vitamins she needs and nutritional values. you could also add things like, "cucumbers make your hair glow" or "drinking lots of milk can make your nails tougher and shinier".... little things that'll appeal to a teenage girl's needs :p
