I was recently diagnosed with asthma by my primary who put me on syrabicort. Have not seen a specialist. I have been on for about 2 months now, and I have had episodes I never had before I was on any medication. Feeling faint, dizzy, having a hard time breathing, nauseated, having to use a rescue inhaler multiple times, and this morning when I woke up I realized that I was not breathing properly. Scary to think of breathing problems when you aren't awake....

I have read up a little on syrabicort and see that those can be side effects. I am sure I need to get off of syrabicort. I am guessing I need to switch to something else, but I am clueless and I'd like advice. Also, advice as to type of specialist?

My asthma does not consist of wheezing, but coughing. I have multiple allergies.

If anyone can give me the benefit of your experience so I am a little more familiar when I took to the doc about options, I would appreciate it so much!

The usual choices are a pulmonologist or your allergist. Either can do a pulmonary function test for a valid diagnosis. And then work with you for a proper daily preventive med. Good luck!
