We just bought a new television and we want to mount it on the wall. We bought a wall mounting bracket, a big level and a stud finder but now we're stuck.
The stud finder seems to find studs all over the place, but when we drill, there's nothing.
And the other part is that when we attempted to drill on an interior wall, we drilled THROUGH the wall. The drill bit was 2.5" long and just barely broke through.
We rent so I'm not sure what the wall is made of. The building is older, and it doesn't seem to be drywall, although I always thought plaster was tougher to drill through than this. The dust that came out was very powdery.
Can I get some tips on actually finding the stud and what type of wall I might be working with?
