...etc...)? I was at a good friend's going-away party last week and about ready to leave, (was looking for my misplaced handbag), when I heard yelling outside. I went outside to find a friend arguing very loudly with his roommate. I then volunteered myself mediator, one because they were ruining the vibe and two because they were being loud outside at 3am in a quiet neighborhood. As I was talking this girl (his roommate) down (very politely I might add) I saw parked blue lights down the street. I then turned around and walked inside to remove myself from a potential situation. I went upstairs and sat down in a group of people and the next thing I know, a herd of officers come running up the stairs, slap handcuffs on ME from behind, JERK me out of the chair, and THROW ME on the hardwood floor face-down. I was in shock, asking what was going on, why they were doing this, and they proceeded to drag me down the stairs. As I was being taken to the car in handcuffs, I heard the girl from outside asking the cop to hear "her side of the story." I then began to FREAK OUT because it was obvious the officers thought they were onto something, something that I had not been a part of, and it's obvious to me that this girl was creating a story to keep herself out of trouble. Well I got taken to jail that night after being taunted by these officers for not calming down ( I was crying hysterically and pleading with them to tell me what I did and let me say something on my behalf. They even threatened to taze me as I was sitting in the back seat cuffed). The officer who drove me to the jail did not know why I was arrested and would not tell me where he was taking me or anything. They didn't have my identity until I told them my DL number off the top of my head. I was charged with Disorderly conduct, Resisting Arrest, and not stopping on officer commands (because apparently they were calling for me as I was walking inside???). I have had a clean record my entire life, NO run-ins with the law, and I've also been to parties that have gotten busted yada yada and have always been polite with police officers, as they are just doing their jobs. AND THEN THIS HAPPENED. Why me? And how do I fight this if I cannot afford a lawyer??? BTW the way they jerked me around left bruises all up and down my arms, and my knees are bruised from being thrown on the floor. I've taken pictures. I want to fight this but with no lawyer I feel like I'm SOL. PLEASE HELP!!!!
