This has been beaten like a turncoat mobster, depends on what u want, n73 is everything the k790a is and more, if you not into the symbian software and third party apps and wanna save a few bucks then go with k790a. hereb are some comparitive links http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showthread.php?t=51836&page=5,,

SE doesn't suck, their just not as good as nokia. weren't you ever taught not to make fun of the stupid kids? lol

i like to think of SE as nokia's retarded cousin.

except for the monumental difference in the OS. nokia's have symbian, nuff said.

and the fact that nokia's have SEND and END keys. that bugs the **** out of me.

In what way? That they're both Cell Phones?
Sure I agree with that except that Nokia has moved on to multimedia computers. Maybe S40's are similar as they are just Cell phones but S60's are just too much for the SE boys to handle.

Advantages of K790a/Disadvantages of N73:real camera flash - xenonbetter gallery...doesn't throw your porn pics together with family pics and gives visibility to everything to anyoneyou can browse, minimize to create an sms, and go back to browsing without losing your browsing session...imagine that?sony's shortcut key is lightyears ahead of nokia'sbetter joystick, easier to use. try going down down down on Nokia's...it's like a thumb workout....A2DP (stereo bluetooth headset compatibility)better java application support. nokia's java implementation is laggy and choppy. don't bother, stick with .sisfriendlier messaging options: EMS support, more customization options in MMS, ability to crop a video clip before sending (if it's too large)more trendy & stylish...doesn't look like a chocolate bar with a large screenscreen is easier to clean, it's not recessed so you don't get dust and face oil jammed in the corners when you try to clean it. i feel sorry for ppl with perspiration issues...can handle the browser it's equipped with unlike Nokia N73's browser which will take you 2-3 pages deep into an eBay search before just completely shutting down on you without warningk790a has better audio output through headphones....cleaner soundN73 > buggy and unreliableN73 is unjustifiably expensivebetter accessory support
Advantages of N73/Disadvantages of k790a:better for those with unlimited data (or fat pockets to spend on data)equipped with the best browser of all devices (if it actually stays up for more than 3 screens)ability to use MS Exchange and other data consuming 3rd party applications like Symella
far better audio output through speaker and loudspeakerslightly faster camerabetter video recorderbetter phone customization:menusphone book labels
feels much better holding to the ear....significantly more ergonomiccamera lens cover isn't as obtrusive as it is on the k790aMiniSD support = better than limited M2 memorybattery life is probably betterdedicated talk/end keyswider application support and capability (ie. barcode reader (as irrelevant as it is), Symella to download music from the Gnutella network, etc.)quad-band
Neither have advantage/disadvantage:camera quality. both have their strengths and weaknesses but perform relatively the same in sunlight and indoors. the k790a can take a solid picture in complete darkness but the xenon advantage has already been stated.screen resolution is the exact same QVGA / 240 x 320 / 262K coloursmusic player application: sony's is better integrated (ie. dedicated play, pause, advance, volume keys, doesn't take 2-5 minutes to read new music on a 1gb memory card, doesn't start playing uncontrollably if headphone jack is unplugged) but Nokia's has more categorization options (ie. sort by genre, recently added, album art, playlist from PC can be used on phone)size is more or less the same, both can be fit in the same cases/pouchesreception is also more or less the sameCan't think of anything else

Really think its a matter of choice, se has better screen in terms of richness because screen is alot smaller, i personally love the screen and size on the n73, i know it dont have a2dp, but i love the fact that nokias always ring in my ear thru bluetooth and i can even listen to my music or play games and it works thru the bluetooth, rf might be the same but if push comes to shove and u needed a signal desperately my money goes with nokia, style strictly opinion, camera varying opinions, from the consensus, n73 better daytime, k790 better nightime, and a major point for me is the offline mode in a nokia, as opposed to music mode in the sony, with the nokia u can still do everything but call, with the sony, u can only listen to music and videos, not sure if this is the case with the k790/k800, so can someone enlighten me, but to me thats huge difference also, i load games on to pass the time as well as music , as well as video they also say the k790 handles higher video quality not sure if thats the case, but the n73 will definetly handle more formats i believe, avi, files which are excellent to watch movies in. Bottom line is what do u want your phone to do, on my n73 i have a full dictionary, niv bible old and new testament, also love the active display for my calendar and to do notes. N73 by far is so much more powerful, and sony is a great cell phone with more on it and functionality of lets say the motos or lg's or samsungs out there.

Then what exactly does it look like? how exactly does it NOT look like a chocolate bar with a screen?

You can't make a statement like this and not back it up with something. can we have an example to justify this?

very VERY true. you win on this one

very nice comparison (present text excluded) someone should sticky this so this isn't asked again.

i would like to add...
can open and edit MS Word, Excell, PowerPoint (to be more specific)can open pdf files and ebook filescan do GPS if you get 3rd party app & hardwarecan do emullation (i read quake III can now be ported, i have doom running)

K790 advantage
great flash
easy to use, no need to add any software and works out of the box

N73 advantage:
You can add software:
i regulary use the Web app, TomTom, LivePVR (records all phone calls automatically), and office viewer

I debated over the 2 phones, but I will stick with my N73
