I'm creating a decal. You know, like you get in plastic model kits. Anyway, I have the basic objects completed but the printer tells me that all of the objects will need a clear layer on top and all colors (other than black and white) need to have an white backing.
Here's my problem.
The top clear layer isn't too much of a problem since it doesn't need to be all that close to the original image.
The harder part for me is that undercoat that I have to give the colors. This has to essentially be the same image but slightly smaller all around so that it is trapped by the image above. This one is harder since it needs to be as close to the original object as possible while falling within the parameters set by the printer (The lighter color should reach under the edge of the darker top color at least .005” (.35pt).)
I'm really not sure how to do this. Just scaling the object doesn't really seem to work.
