Adobe Flash Player not installing correctly?

I recently bought a new computer (custom built) and it did not come installed with Adobe Flash Player 10. A video my friend sent me requires Flash Player 10 but every time I try installing it the download bar does not come up. It just tells me to click the Install button and then directs me to another page. After waiting 4 minutes nothing happened. Can someone please help out?
the system being used is Windows XP
