I am just wondering if there is a certain circumstance in which the doctor prescribes one or the other. I am going to the doctor on Tuesday, but I am not sure which she is going to prescribe. I was under the impression that Ritalin was more for people with the hyperactivity symptom, and Adderall was more for people who are just attention deficit.
Anyone know when one is chosen over the other one? Or is it more of the doctor's preference to choose one over the other one?
I don't really have ADHD per-say. I just have a hard time concentrating on school/homework, and I don't want my GPA to drop. I have a 4.0 right now and the workload is burdensome. I actually had to go to the cardiologist before I could be prescribed to any ADHD meds, so I am taking them in a safe manner, under the supervision of a doctor.
My doctor already said she is going to precribe me meds. I told her that i have trouble focusing on my school work and that it is affecting my grades. I also tend to dose off when someone is speaking to me directly. I don't know if that is ADHD or not, but I definitely need something to keep me on track. My doctor actually made me go to the cardiologist first, who gave the OK this past Thurs to put me on ADHD (heart-wise). The doctor warned me of side effects and dependency issues with ADHD meds, so I am pretty sure I am getting either Adderall or Ritalin.
I am 21 by the way
