added fish to new aquarium from other tank?

My girlfriend overstocked her 70 gallon tank,and after one of her parrot fish died who was a realtively big size and to see how devastated she was i decided to get out the 30 gallon bow front from storage and set it up. I am using her old pump canister filter which generates about 150 gph so the bacteria is enabled mostly, ( i devised her a new trickle down sump system for her other tank) on setting it up I knew I had limited amount of time to get the tank fully cycled before I had to unload the fish into the 30 gallon tank. I checked the ph before and wasin nuetral range I added fish after about 2 hours now 2 days later my ph is about 9.0 . I did all the necessary treatments added new tank stabilization to speed up the process. will this high levels kill my fish before the tank is fully cycled. obtw i did manage to get the other tank down her nitrite was1.2 mg and ammoniawas 1.5 with daily 20 percent water cvhanges it is now .3 nit and .25 thanks for your help. I also added a lage piece of driftwood to help lower the ph i do not want to add chemicals
