Adapting to Drawing Styles?

I would consider myself to be a pretty good artist, the problem is, when i draw off of the top of my head i draw very cartoonish/urban type things, urban/cartoon art is probably my favorite type of drawing. I would say that the work of Jamie Hewlett is my preferred style. If i need to i can draw just about anything realistic, cartoonish, portraits etc, as long as i can "copy" it, by "copy" it i mean putting a picture of something in front of me and recreating the art on a seperate piece of paper, my question is, how do i make it so that when i am drawing, without looking at anything, i can draw realistic things, is this something i can learn to do with practice or am i stuck with my style for good?

thanks
Also if it is possible to learn different styles, how should i begin to practice?
