should be raised to 21? I'm an Air Force wife and from what I can see, that wouldn't work well. I understand why some people have concerns about an 18 Y/O's ability to take on this kind of responsibility, but the military needs young able bodied people and it would seem that raising the enlistment age would severely reduce the number of ideal candidates for service, plus I would also think alot fewer people would have an interest in joining anymore at 21 as they're more accustomed to their freedom than most 18 Y/O's who are right out of high school. Not to mention, military enlistment is a saving grace for some underprivileged young people who don't have many options in furthering their education after high school. What do those of you who are or have actively served in some branch of the service think? Do you believe the enlistment age needs to be raised or should stay the same and why?
