I have a 1995 Acura Integra. This morning on my way to work I noticed it didn't sound exactly right. Soon it was overheating, and rmp needle was surging/bouncing from 1000-2000. 2 months ago we replaced the thermostat, and about 2 weeks ago we replaced the distributor, plugs, wires, etc. I check the water this morning after I got to work, and while it was low there was water in it. I didn't dare open the radiator as hot as it was. It was smoking a little, but not the same as it did when we had to replace the thermostat and I didn't notice that "overheating smell" if you know what I mean. I am at a total loss of what could be wrong this time. Any ideas?

I hate to tell you this but it sounds like the head gasket has blown. I had a car that did exactly the same thing you described and it was the gasket and the smoking is another major sign. Check the oil and if it looks milky then its for sure the gasket. Good Luck!

It sounds like maybe your water pump is bad, are you seeing large pools of water under the car? Best bet is take it a shop they can pin point the problem very quickly
