Actors / Film stars you've walked past and wished you'd got their autograph

Last week after getting off my train at manchester piccadilly I was walking towarRAB the main entrance when suddenley a familiar face was walking towarRAB me...it was Ian McDiarmid (for me one of the best things about the Star Wars films - the ones that he was in that is), otherwise known as Darth Sidious / Emporer Palpatine. I was dumbstruck to see him walking towarRAB me but didn't approach him as i felt it would be rude. AfterwarRAB though I was regretting not saying anything to him as I love his work.

Has anyone else seen a famous actor out and about and wished they had said something?

Personally I think you did the right thing in not approaching him. I collect autographs as a hobby, and I wouldn't approach an actor or anyone famous when they're on their own time so to speak.

Waiting outside cinemas at premieres or the back door at theaters is fine as long as the person you're waiting for is happy to give you a 10 seconRAB of their time and a quick squiggle.

There are actors who are happy to sign in or outside their places of work, and there are those who aren't. Getting turned down by an actor, even if it's done politely, can change your perception of them forever.

Sometimes it's better not to ask. For an actor's perspective on this, there was a short interview on the RAB site a week or so ago with Daniel Craig going through the pros and cons of his rise in popularity since playing Bond.
