Five days after I starting eating Activia yogurt; I developed itchy hives on my stomach, thighs and upper arms. I dont think I changed enything else on my diet except the Activia. Is this common? Has anyone else developed this problem? I stopped eating it but the hives seem not to go away. Please help

I have also developed hives, each time after eating Activia yogurt for the past several weeks. Mine are on my legs and arms, and do not go away quickly, but do not itch like bug bites or allergies, but some spread like a spider bite. I am also on synthroid which I initiatially thought might be the cause, but I've been taking it for years and never had any problems. I've never had hives before, and the only thing new I've eaten is Activia, which I won't be eating any more! Thank you for your post, so I know I'm not crazy!! I would like to know what causes this reaction.

Interesting. Have you ever reacted to other yogurts?

Another thing to consider - what flavor of yogurt was it? Is it possible you're allergic to the fruit?

I am so glad that I found this information and I am not alone! I have been going crazy trying to figure out why I have developed hives on my legs that will not go away. I have been eating Activia for a few weeks, broke out in hives, stopped eating the yogurt because I ran out and the hives were still there but in less amounts. I just recently bought more over the weekend and within the last 2 days my hives have increased in nurabers and in size. I am not allergic to fruit and have tried all the flavors. The only thing for me that clears up the hives temporarily is topically antihistamine. Has anyone found a way to clear them up all together????

try the Oikos greek yogurt, it is more expensive but a more thicker creamier consistency, i dont know about the hives issue though.

I finally went to see a doctor about the hives--which are not hives--and she cultured one and said they are something they see people get from hot tubs. Too bad I haven't been in a hot tub in a long time. She put me on antibiotics and they are finally gone and not recurring. The marks are still there--weeks later-- and I hope they don't scar permanently.

We've been feeding our kiRAB activia for quite a while now (Months off/on, and once a day for about 4-6 weeks), my 5 year old is now getting hives which show up really well when his skin gets too hot or cold. We're going to take him off the yogurt and see what happens.
