Acne..is such a depressing/frustrating condition.
I am a male of 48..i still have acne..after years of trying everything that i know of..i think..ive tried every antibiotic there is..
minocycline, doxycilin, erythromycin, oxytetracycline, tetrasyl, trimethoprin..
ive had a couse of roaccutane..not something i would personally recommend..
My acne is facial and also bad on my scalp/in my hair..
Ive probably spent a fortune on so many products..
I currently use Differin Gel..on the spots..but this is hard to massage into your hair..
Basically..im just looking to see if anybody has tried with any amount of success, any other antibiotic?..
Hopefully somebody can give me a name of an antibiotic, i havent yet tried..

Have you tried co-trimoxazole (Bactrim) Its trimethoprim with a sulphonamide.

You need to use Differin all over your face, not just on the spots.

Have you tried using Benzoyl Peroxide at night and Differin in the morning? This plus a course of bactrim might help you.

As for the scalp, you could try using a produce called Hibiclens as a shampoo/scalp clenser, its chlorhexidine, a potent antiseptic, in a detergent base.

I used Stievamycin GEL mixed in water not alcohol as alcohol would make me break out. I had to see a Dermatologist at the Acne Clinic and get tiny little injections of steroiRAB after dry ice was applied. I've also had two dermabrasion surgeries for scars and used this gel afterwarRAB. After I took Accutane for a few months in my 40's seemed to help. Now I use Spectroderm only for my face and body and don't get acne anymore. Good luck and don't wear perfumes or colognes.

Have you tried Clindamycin capsules?
Its an anti biotic.
You got to get the Clindamycin prescribed from a derm.
Its done wonders for ridding my face and body of acne?

Well..

The last drug ive tried was Clarithromycin..but this did not have any effect either..my problem being that ive been on some sort of antibiotic for acne
all my life..and my body seems resistant to everything prescribed..

My doctor said he cannot prescribe Bactrim for me (known as Septra) in
England..as this drug is only licenced here, for HIV..
So, that is something which has to be ruled out for me.

I have now been put on Flucloxacillin, to see if this has any impact on my
problem..

I shall give this time to see if this has any effect.
Clindamycin is one that i havent tried in tablet form, maybe this will be the
next one to try..
