i have been for the last couple months, no pop, orange juice, fatty fooRAB, no alcohol, no ibprofin, nothing. This is best my diet has ever been in my life. I'm not overweight, i am very active. I have been taking aloevera juice, dgl and drinking 75-100 oz. of water daily. I can say it has gotten better (the inflamed throat) but it is differnet day to day and it is taking a long time. I am even sleeping elevated. i dont know what else i can do. The only symptom i have is the lump in the throat from time to time. It is such a common condition among people, you would think there would be a better solution to it than taking medication forever.

My doctor says I have acid reflux and has put me on 40mgs Onesaparole.
I was tested for 3 months for my heart and now I have to go to an ENT specialist, date 5th Oct !!
I have severe inflammation and burning in my upper chest, it affects my voice and I have the same in my back!!!
I also have spasms of burning similar to angina and have to take a nitro spray.
The pills do not seems to take the incessant burning away.
Has anyone else had these symptoms? especially the back burning?

I am having problems similar to yours. Especially the burning in the back and shoulders. I am miserable. I haven't been to a doctor yet though. I am trying to work on this myself. The chest and back pain today was unbearable. I ate some plain dannon yogurt which seemed to help a whole lot. I read that it could be useful so I tried it.
I have a constant feeling of burning in my chest with a heavy feeling. If it were heart related it would come on with exertion but it's with me most of the days. Some days are better than others. I can't figure this out. I probably will end up going to see a dr if my ways don't work.

Good luck to you.

rose620, I would advise that you do go see a doctor soon or as soon as possible. A constant burning in your chest with a heavy feeling? Likely not acid reflux.

Are you drinking coffee?? That is one of the worst caffiene and non caffeine not advised. I drink very weak tea and water only at present. I had a whole day yesterday with no inflammation or acid.

So sorry you are experiencing so much discomfort. It is very possible that what you are experiencing is acid reflux. It affects different people in different ways, and I know it may take weeks for the medication to cut back on the acid long enough for your tissues to have the chance to recover.

With your doctor's permission, you may wish to add some natural remedies to your regime, such as Aloe Vera juice and DGL which you can probably purchase at your local health food store in the UK. These substances are soothing to the throat and esophagus, and may help speed up the healing.

It sounRAB like you are getting yourself checked by different specialists which sounRAB like a great idea to me. It will give you peace of mind to have a definitive diagnosis and rule out other problems.

If you have acid reflux, then you must also look at your diet and substances that may irritate your stomach and produce more acid. Coffee, tea, cigarrettes, chocolate and a lot of dairy all lead to increased acid production by the stomach.

If you search these forums, you will find a wealth of information that may provide you with tools and peace of mind.

I hope you start feeling better very soon.

Thank you Rose for your suggestions. It is a great comfort to hear from someone who knows, as it is a frightening experience, especially as at first they suspected my heart and were going to put me on Warfarin, Statins etc and I was the one who wanted to wait for more tests before changing meRAB !!
Hope all is well with you.

I have been to the er for chest pains, that may have been reflux. Also stressing about it and being really scared contributes to the pain. I also felt like someone was sitting om my chest. I think the stress is what contributed the most to it. I think the ppi medication is helping with the back ache, but i think i am still getting non acidic relfux. I am wondering if i had damaged my diaphram when training for a 5k, all my problems happened around this time. I also had frequent side aches and pain in my lower right side rib cage when i did the 5k.

I too hav had that problem on and off for the last 3 months. i have been on 40mg omperazole and right now i am on aciphex 20 mg for two weeks. I most likely will be getting scoped. I have had an immflamed esophagus on and off, along with what i can guess it esophagus spasms. i mostly feel them in my mid back. i got them real bad when i had dinner with italian seasoning. I am not sure if acid reflux is causing this, I get no heartburn at all. we might suspect silent reflux, but the meRAB havent been much help. When i am on it, I pass food like no other, i get shaky every day at the same time, but I feel better when i eat. I have 1 if not 2 bms a day. I have been eating like crazy. On the omperazole i lost 13 lbs. I wasnt eating because of the sideeffects of the meRAB and alot of stress. I put 5-6 back on when off the meRAB. It is like i am passing undigested food. Anybody have the effect? :dizzy:

Are you eating the right fooRAB? We are not supposed to have alcohol, chocolate, citurs friuts, tomatoes, spicy fooRAB, fats or too much dairy.
Eating oats, vegetables, non fatty meats or fish, potatoes and non citrus fruits and beans etc etc is best.
I got a list from the internet.

I know, perhaps I am being overly cautious. But, even though I haven't met anyone in person on here, due to the nature of the message board, I do care about each and everyone on here. I mean that.
