Hi,

A fee months agao I started getting a lump in my throat feeling.

Went to the doc's who prescribed lansoprazole PPI as she thought it was acid reflux

No change after two weeks so got sent to a consultant who did an endoscopy, agreed he thought it was acid reflux and doubled my PPI's.

The lump in the throat feeling improved sightly but I was still getting it so went to see the consultant for a follow up where he did an endoscopy again and noted the inflamation caused by the acid reflux had died down around my larynx area but not my gullet (he was surprised as he thought whole area would have calmed down)

Has anyone come across this before (localised inflammation from acid reflux) ? I've got a 'rigid type' endoscopy in just over a weeks time but I'm scared stiff its some kind osoephagal cancer.

Thanks,

I really wouldn't worry about cancer at this point unless you have other symptoms. It is good you are having the Endoscopy to be checked for sure, but the chances of cancer are pretty slim. I've had extremely severe reflux (confirmed through other testing) for years and had two endoscopies that showed no damage at all. It doesn't make the other symptoms any less severe, but it doesn't necessarily mean immediate damage either.
