You should get on medication for acid reflux to allow your throat to heal. If your acid reflux is that severe you should be on medication daily to minimize the damage the acid will do to your throat. There are some pretty good over the counter meRAB (Losec) and there are prescription medications that are even stronger.

If you have true thrroat lesions and burns, you'll need to see a serious ENT to diagnose them. Go to the most seasoned doctor at you closest specialist facility. Treating them inititailly is simple if you get to the right doctor - you need 2 doses a day of a PPI, not 1 dose. 1 dose helps GERD, 2 doses takes care of LPR. Demand 2 doses per day of Nexium (80 mg total) and you should feel better fast. LPR requires double doses of the PPI and Nexium is the best PPI you can buy

Do you have to take the two doses for an extended period of time, or is it just a month or two? The reason I ask is because I was just recently diagnosed with LPR, and I am taking one 40mg protonix in the morning. Should I also take one in the evening? Thanks.
