Never had heartburn before the last few weeks which is when I've been really stressing about my health issues. I've read that anxiety can cause acid reflux and I was wondering if anyone has experienced that? Or is it that having acid reflux gives you anxiety? Do you have more severe reflux in times that you are stressed?

Okay, so I've been battling stomach issues for 8 months now. Had my gallbladder removed in Deceraber after having 3 gb attacks in less than a month. Still having stomach issues including abdominal tenderness, burping, and hiccups among other things. Also, I've been getting the feeling of a really bad cramp in the upper center portion of my back which is sometimes in my upper abdomen (breastbone area) and radiates to my back after consuming just one alcoholic beverage. My doctor thinks my symptoms are due to possibly a hiatal hernia and acid reflux. I've had no tests done to confirm/deny this.

To me the surgery was a major deal as I've never really had a real health issue in my life. Now with the problems I'm still experiencing after surgery I'm convinced myself that something serious is going on. Never been to a doctor over anxiety before but I've definitely been experiencing it recently. Lately my health is all I think about 24/7 and I'm having trouble focusing on much else. Someone can be talking to me and I'm looking at them but not really hearing what they are saying. Also been having a really difficult time sleeping through the night, which is completely new for me, for the last couple months.

If I could just get my health issues solved I think the anxiety would go away. In the meantime, I hope I don't drive the people around me crazy, as well as myself, obsessing over all of this.

I had my gallbladder out too and my stomach is a mess. It is a vicious cycle. I haven't had anxiety in over 10 years and it all came back as soon as I had my gallbladder taken out. I belch 24/7 and I am on 2 different acid reflux medications. I have had every test in the book and all they found was mild nonspecific gastritis. I am leaning more towarRAB sphinctor of the oddi dysfunction because my symptoms point towarRAB that.

Your not alone with the anxiety because alot of other people go through the same thing because we fear the unknown and we just want it resolved. When I am stressed, yes my acid reflux does get worse. I am going through the same exact feelings as you are right now. Hopefully this will pass and we can move on with our lives.

I was hospitalized a lot of times because of acid reflux and gastritis. When I get stressed, I feel discomfort in my stomach and I begin to throw up a lot causing me to dehydrate. It was a bad experience that I had to control my food and drinks. The acid was also causing me frequent asthma attacks. I felt better when I started taking non-acidic vitamin c. I was finally over the uncomfortable condition when I quit my stressful job.
