acid in the back of my throat

OK guys, I'm back. Last Deceraber I was posting with regarRAB to my TIF procedure. Now, half a year later, I have a different problem. Prior to my TIF I suffered from heartburn type GERD. Now, I take one PPI a day, around mid afternoon. Occassionally, I'll be awakened at night by acid coming up the back of my throat. From researching, this sounRAB like the other kind of gerd. But why? Would the TIF have stopped the heartburn, but since the acid is still produced, force it up the back of my throat and into my mouth? It burns really bad and tastes disgusting! Any help would be appreciated.
 
I have this same issue. Sometimes I even wake up choking on the acid that has made it all the way up my esophagus. My gastro put me on 40 mg of Nexium in the AM and its really helped. However if I miss even one dose of Nexium then the following day I have heartburn all day and the acid problem all night.
