This article was on Aintitcool about a possible third Ace Ventura film:

Morgan Creek has begun the detective work on a kooky cold case. The production company has hired Jeff Sank and brothers Jason and Justin Heimberg to write a third installment of the hit franchise "Ace Ventura." The two previous "Ventura" comedies grossed more than $180 million domestically and helped establish Jim Carrey as one of the highest-paid comedy actors in Hollywood. The latest pet project is expected to center on the eccentric detective's son, who steps into his father's shoes to take over the family business.

Didn't they learn their lesson from watching the moving abortion called SON OF THE MASK? They do realize that people liked Jim Carrey playing Ace Ventura, right? I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that people won't want to go see an ACE VENTURA movie without Jim Carrey and it sounRAB like Morgan Creek is trying to do that.
If they're hellbent on making an ACE VENTURA 3, I wish them luck. I'm all for it, actually. But get Jim Carrey back in the starring role. Pay him his $20 million. Make him an executive producer. Give him 20% of the back end. Get him onboard. Or don't do it. At least that's my opinion. What's yours?"
 
it wouldnt be ace ventura without jim!! its shame when they do this kinda stuff. remember dumber and dumberer!!
Please dont ruin two of the best films ever created! but on the same note i think jim has turned his back on that kind of comedy which is probably just as bad news as this thread! :cry:
 
They wont make it with Jim Carrey they didnt woth son of the mask i cannot see him in Ace Ventura 3 no way. Ace Ventura 3 might be going direct to video if it does not star Jim Carrey.
 
Jim Carrey will definately not appear in this role, wether they offer it to him or not.

Which means sadly it looks like being another cash in. Ace Ventura's son??? Surely he didnt have one in the last few films, so how olRAB he supposed to be?
 
Carrey neeRAB to be in it in some form. Maybe a small role where he dies at the beginning or something. The problem is that he IS those movies. They're funny because of him, not because of the script or story, so a third wouldn't be funny without him, therefore what's the point in making it? Oh yeah, to make money... Well...good luck to them.
 
We dont know yet who is starring in this movie, yes we want jim carrey but we will have to wait until the cast is announced, if jim carrey wont be in the movie (i am sure he wont be) then we know that we dont have to watch it.
 
Dumb & Dumberer - Awful film - No Jim Carrey (Or Jeff Daniels for that matter)
Son of The Mask - Awful film - No Jim Carrey (and a truly awful story)

They also ruined Dr Dolittle 3 by not having Eddie Murphy back and instead passing the story onto his daughter who now magically has the gift too.

Why oh why are franchises being dug up from their graves, sprinkled with crap actors and hey presto, another sequel? Will it really make that much money and entertain that many people for it to have been a success? I doubt it.

Well, Jim Carrey said he "doesn't do sequels", hence why he didn't make Dumb and Dumber 2 (but why then did he make Ace Ventura 2?) so the chances of him being in this film are slim to non-existent. Or maybe Jim has a soft spot for old Ace and is the only franchise he will do more work for...?
