Hi everyone!

I have been taking Accutane (Isotretinoin, same thing isn't it?) for five weeks, and suddenly realised yesterday that I have been taking the wrong dose! What an idiot! It turns out the boxes, although identical, were different strengths, and the printed label from the pharmacist just said to take 2 x 20mg a day so I didn't bother to double check.

Good thing is I have been underdosing, and have so far only taken 2 x 5mg tablets. I am supposed to be going up to 50mg a day now. Should I start taking that amount, or will it be a bit of a shock to the system after only being on 10mg a day until now? lol, typical me.

Lol, I have different boxes too, I can see how you got mixed up :)

If I were you I would NOT start taking 50 mg. The reason that they increase the dosage gradually is because it shocks your system to introduce too much too fast. If I were you, I would call your derm, explain what has happened and ask him what dose to take now. At least then you wont have to worry.

You start at 5mg? I started at 40mg a pill and take it once a day. I'm on my 2nd month now and it's still the same type and I eat it once a day like last month. I advise calling your doc just to be sure. Overdosing on Accutane can be really serious.

This is not something to be taken lightly. Accutane can be very dangeous. Consult your derm right away, don't worry it's an honest mistake happens to the best of us.
