hey everyone...i am in my last month of treatment (have been on 40mg/day from the beginning) and i have been sufferring from chest pain...
is this common? is it accutane related? im really scared..and the pain is by my heart...i JUST quit smoking too, esp. since i am on the pill..im through with smoking...its hard but its the best thing for me..
i dont want to go to my derm cuz he is an idiot....he didnt even check everything in my blood work..he just checked if i was pregnant the last month and that was it;..even earlier he didne have my blood results and he still prescribed me the meRAB...i dont trust this guy....
but has anyone else had chest pain due to accutane?

what should i do????

Call your primary doctor and tell him what's going on. I wouldn't wait to long to find out what this is.

I experienced the same thing, but it came and went.

I was wearing this new shirt with a rough inner fabric (used to support it's huge logo on the front xD). I had these strange painfull sensations in my chest, and I soon realized that it was caused when things rub against my chest. I hope this is relavent to your situation.

My theory is that it's part of the side effect of having sensative skin -- in fact, I get cut easily also. I am not a doctor or anything, so you're going to want to check into that.

btw, does it go away at all? decribe the pain if you can

!!:blob_fire!!

the pain feels sharp..right where my heart is...and yes it comes and goes at odd times...i cant seem to think of anything that triggers it...
i sat at the hospital for 6 hrs yesterday only for the dr to tell me "i dont know what the nature of the pain is" ...and that was it..
he did an ecg and an xray and said that my heart and lungs look fine..
maybe its anxiety but i dunno...
the dr told me to see my family dr instead

i too am on my last month and have been having heart pains. my theory is that since accutane can lower hemoglobin count, theres less rbc and thus less oxygen in our blood.
i read that
"Angina is a type of heart-related chest pain. This pain occurs because your heart is not getting enough blood and oxygen. The most common symptom is chest pain that occurs behind the breast bone or slightly to the left of it. It may feel like tightness, heavy pressure, squeezing, or crushing pain. The pain may spread to the arm, shoulder, jaw, or back."
i assume are chest pains are due to lack of oxygen, but i would still contact your doctor

Report the Doctor that gave you the accutane. I was fortunate enough to get one of the most respected derms around. She calls to check on me and whatnot.

The chest pain, it could be accutane related. I belive thats a possible side effect. Should go away after the treatment though. You stopped smoking, that could have caused it. That also should go away.

Hope by now this has resolved itself. I just question why you want to say it is accutane alone when the pill and smoking (corabined) could cause this also. And, it wouldn't be a stretch to say it's all three. I had the same thing happen to me. The pain feels constricting and sometimes can last a while. I had an ekg and stress test that came back normal. My pmp said it was anxiety and stress. I haven't experienced it for a long time. Had a lot going on when I was getting the pains.

What I'm saying is, if you get checked out you may find that it's as simple as stress even though it feels a lot worse. Good luck!
