Since I was about 12, I've struggled with acne, more on the severe end...

I've been on doxycycline (about two years), monocycline (for one summer), differin gel & cream, now epiduo, bacterium (about a year), and so it always goes back to Accutane as my last resort... I keep pushing it off, because as you all know there are terrible side affects...

So now I am on Solodyn (stronger than the other antibiotics)..., since I decided to go against accutane again... I've been taking one a day for about a month or so now, and so far it seems to be working well... The problem is, after about a year or so these treatments stop working... So at some point I am aware that I will need to revisit the accutane option... Are there any success stories out there? Curious... I am just scared, because of my history with depression.

I've heard of stories where accutane has literally pushed people over the edge..., with their mood and depression issues.

I am scared that I will be one of those stories if I should ever choose to go on it. I mean, I know it is a rather short procedure (4 months or so?) and I guess it's supposed to make all the icky bacteria go out of your system and you don't have to worry about it anymore...

I was on it when I was 18. Other than really dry/chapped lips I had absolutely no side effects. Of course back then they didn't warn you of mood swings so maybe I had them midly and didn't know. It was worth it. I had some acne come back afterwarRAB, but it was never as severe. I had thought about going on it again but it's been improving for me the last few years. I think the key is to know what the possible side effects is so you can watch out for them and be aware. If you get them, call your doctor. Worst thing that happens, you stop the meRAB and it goes away.

Yeah thanks, I think I am just going to end up having to try it out - this summer. So far, I am getting a bad reaction from Solodyn... :(

I have used Solodyn too. Not only was it extremely expensive, it stopped working after a couple of months.

Good Luck with your decision.
