So there I was at work minding my own business at work when a topic came up on the Local Area Chat in our department. The chat transcript went as listed below and YES... our department heads tolerate such transcripts:

Officemate1: Damn, I miss p*ssy. My girfriend broke up with me a few days ago and I already miss it.
Gay Officemate1: I miss d*ck. I hate p*ssy.
Officemate1: You should like p*ssy. Tastes good, feel good. Your a man, you should like pussy, you were born a man and with an instinct for p*ssy, you should follow mother nature.
Gay Officemate2: We were born gay. Therefore we are following her.
ME: Nature vs Nurture. You were born straight and due to nurture, i.e factors in the environment, upon maturing, you chose the path you are in now.
Gay Officemate1: No, we were born this way. God made us this way.
ME: Well, in the psychological debate of nature vs nurture I just believe in nurture better.
Gay Officemate1: Well, I don't care what other people think. I'm getting married next year to an American who loves me for who I am.
ME: Good for you, just don't stay here in the Philippines. You might just get hurt. People here are not too open to same sex marriage. Your neighbors will probably talk behind your back and make fun of you.
Gay Officemate: I don't care. You have your own opinion about gays and I respect that even though I don't necesarily like it or believe it.
ME: Huh? What opinions?
Gay Officemate 2 About gays! That we chose to be this way! And you made fun of me and my bf.......


Well it went to hell after that... I was just plain confused. Was there in anyway in the chat that I made fun of him/her and made a discriminatory remark against them? What he have here is apparently a failure to communicate..... WTF!!!!!
 
They're just starting to start trouble. No matter where you go there will always be someone to will be willing to start trouble with little or no reason. I guess he got offended that you thought he wasn't born gay, that he became gay. Personally, I agree.
 
I'd say it was a little rude.

Also, did you choose to like women? I don't remember waking up one day and deciding pussy was the answer for me.
 
Gays are born that way, just like I was born preferring tits and vaginas to cock and ass. By your argument, you could have been born gay and chose to be hetero.

Also, the bolded, italiced section I'd have taken as a threat and had your ass canned.
 
Rereading it, I gotta agree with Tosty. When you said that bolded part you did go a little far. Even if you possibly said it only to try and help them, it could easily be taken as a threat.
 
Honestly, from my point of view I read that transcript as a voicing of opinion, and a casual "warning" that gays are not looked on nicely in that part of the world. However, that is my biased opinion. I do see, however, that it could be taken as a threat.

I still stand by my "stay out of those conversations" opinion, as stated earlier.
 
The argument is that until it's proven that everyone is born straight, everyone should just shut up about it.

So you consciously decided at one point I think I'm going to be a hetero or homosexual? Or are you contending that it was caused by some environmental factor? I think the fact that you can find homosexuality in so many diverse settings in so many different regions of the world is solid enough evidence, unless there's some sort of universal "gay trigger".

As for your warning, I believe the KKK and Hammerskins used similiar polite warnings when someone "unwanted" moved into their turf.
