have NVQ3 in IT and Admin and BTEC HND Business and Management. I have been working in an admin role since I left School and I am 37 years old. I am doing an AAT Foundation Course and my current job's salary is 18,000 a year. I'm told that jobs in accounting/bookkeeper are very good. I am currently doing a AAT Foundation course and hopefully to gain accounts/finance experience in voluntary work at the weekends. Do you think I am too told at 37 years old to get into accounting and what levels of qualifications would I need to do to get a salary of more than 19,000 a year? I was thinking of doing a top up on my HND Business and Management to gain a degree but that wouldn't gain me any job in accounting. I've contacted Financial Recruitment to get a part time job to gain experience in the evenings/weekends but had no success. What do you think?
