Accessories Question

Hey all..

I have two questions about accessories:

Has anyone seen or heard of a removable windshield? Where you can take it off or put it on as you need/want it? Do you like it?

I have seen bikes with crash bars on them (the bars that go around the engine to protect it if the bike goes down...so the salespeople say). But I have not seen them on any bike on the road or in any of the pics of bikes on here. Are they really necessary and do people really use them?

Thanks!
Rob.

Yes, removable windshields are quite common.

Crash bars are also quite common. Are they necessary? No. But on some bikes they look quite good, and they give you a place to put highway pegs to stretch your feet out. On other bikes they look kind of stupid. But looks aside, they do help protect the bike from damage if you drop it, and protect your legs in a low side wreck.

Sorry to regenerate an aging thread...

I have the National Cycle "Switchblade" windsheild for my C50. I made the decision on this one for the very reason you mentioned in your OP.

It took me about 1/2 hr to install. It takes about 30 seconds & not a single tool, other than my hands to put it on or take it off. Well worth it IMHO.

They also have 4 different styles/height of windsheild available for this mount.

This time of year here I keep it on to avoid getting cold, but next summer I'm sure the only time I'll have it on is for long trips or riding in the rain.
