I have an outstanding academic record - 4.3 GPA, 1970 SAT, etc. I also participate in a lot of extracurriculars, etc. I'm in a photography class and my teacher will give me a good recommendation letter.
I'd like to apply for the computer animation program, but I've heard it's really competitive. I visited the school and talked to a counselor, who said that the portfolio was really important. I'm not completely untalented at drawing but I don't have a strong artistic background - I could use some training on the basics - but I wasn't sure how competitive it really is to get in. Will my awesome academics balance out a pretty good but not standout portfolio if I show enough promise to improve?
