Does the compressor click? Make sure the A/C is off. then turn it on the compressor will make a clicking sound when the clutch activates. If not then check to see if your car has a refrigerant leak. The compressor will shut itself down, if there is no refrigerant. Or if it still has, then the compressor is shot. They run about 300 bucks.
