About Mac Security Threats?

All of my friends say that a Mac is the way to go. Im not a really big fan but they keep convincing me that there are less security threats on a mac, I know that is because more American homes have a PC.

So if you have Windows XP/Vista on a mac, is it still very "security tight"?

Also I like online games like MapleStory and would that work on a mac with Xp or Vista?
