As noted in the question, I have a 2008 Acura TL and I've been wondering if my on board computer is a little off on gauging the mileage. It seems that my fuel low sensor comes on at about 310+/- miles. By my calculation, that means I'm burning about 18 miles per gallon. But the computer says I'm averaging more about 24 mpg, or so. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Am I calculating my mpg wrong or is there some sort of gray area that these numbers are just approximates and I'm taking them too literally?
