About Fixing My 1997 Ford Taurus?

I need to know the problem with my 1997 Ford Taurus.Every time I drive it I have to go slow because if I push it too hard it seems as if its pushing to go in and out of gear, It jerks real hard and I don't know the problem. My mom says it's a transmission problem, if it is do anyone know where to find a cheap one
