our instructor asked us to make a transformerless powersupply, and the obvious problem is that we are not going to use a step down transformer to bring the voltage supply to 30 volts from 230v. the instructor told us that there are ways, and one of that is to put hundreds of watts of any amount of resistor or load before proceeding to the rectification part of the circuit. too bad, that amount of load brings bulkier powersupply, plus it heats up beyond comfort. is there another way to step down the voltage supply without making our project bulkier and without using a transformer?
