If you are talking about scar tissue or sometimes they are called adhesions, this tissue can build up and cause obstructions. An obstruction is one of the serious side effects. This typically does not happen because you have symptoms that test will usually diagnose the beginnings of the obstruction where it can be treated before you develop a complete obstruction requiring major corrective surgery. Sometimes you do not even know that you have scar tisssue until you need some type of abdominal surgical procedure and then the surgeon has a little harder time performing the procedure. Of course typically abdominal scar tissue comes from having a previous abdominal surgical procedure.
