I am a female age 55, medium build, weigh 190 and I am 5' 11" tall. Recently I started noticing a strong pulse just below my rib cage, I understand that it is my abdominal aorta. Normally I understand that this is common in thin individuals, I am not thin but I am not fat either! Is this something that I should be concerned about? Just rec'd the results from a blood test, CBC and UA, all normal levels and I have always been healthy. I take no western drugs, only vitamins and herbs.

Yes, this could be something serious - abdominal aortic aneurysm.

The test for this is an abdominal ultrasound, it's simple, takes about five minutes and can save your life. Surgical repair of AAA has a very good outcome, however if the aneurysm ruptures it is almost always fatal.

Don't wait to get tested. AAA can be genetic and effects women as well as men. (comedian Lucille Ball died of AAA)
