I went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago with a rash, some looked like hives some were little red dots. He first said I was needing allergy pills, took the pills went back a week later and now the little red dots are abdomianl petechiae according to him. What's really strange is when I get up in the morning they are all gone but maybe a couple then with in an hour or so they come back. They don't itch or hurt they are just there. In the evening after dinner when I take my shower I have the hives and the red dots, after I shower and put medicated powder on, with in an hour everythings gone. I'm going in for some blood work, but I'm really scared because everything I read tell me I have cancer of the blood. I'm 64 and did read that the petechiae could be cause from excerise, age or stress. My GranRABon died in Jan. from CF and my Granddaughter has it too so yes I am dealing with stress, but my doctor keeps going back to some liver problem. I was on Crestor for about 3 months and he took me off when I started getting the hives. Has anyone out there ever heard of this? Please help, I'm so scared.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your granRABon. I also have abdominal petechiae and I have had them for the last few years. I notice that mine increase when I wear anything that restricts--pants, nylons...I have been told by a dermatologist that they are really nothing. He did offer to burn them off, but I declined. (they do not bother me) I have also heard that stress can effect the amount and yes I am dealing with my share of stress. Has your doctor explained why he is concerned with your liver. Is it because your liver values became elevated with the Crestor and he is still waiting for them to decline?
Try not to get too excited with everything you read on the internet--I know that I have fallen into that web of misinformation. The internet is a great source for information, unfortuately it is also a great source of misinformation. Take some deep breaths, let your doctor perform his tests, but also make sure this doctor is talking to you in terms that you understand. Pick his/her brain on where he/she is going with a possible diagnosis or what he/she is thinking could be the cause of your abdominal petechiae and rash. Ask this doctor what the worse case senerio is and what the likely cause is. Do not let this doctor brush you off, if you have questions or concerns, than make sure that those questions are answered.
Please let me know how you are doing.

Brenda, thank you so much for your caring reply. I had my blood work done yesterday, I will be going to the doctor next week. I just got up and my body was clear, now about 20 minutes later they are coming back. Boy it sure drives a person nuts!!
