I hope someone can help me out by pointing me in the right direction. For about the last year I have been suffering with abdominal cramps. The cramps are in my abdominal muscles. ALL of my abdominal muscles just lock up and don't let go for what seems like an eternity; but is only 5 minites or so. I can't take a deep breath and the pain is through the roof. Thankfully it doesn't happen every day. It can occur when I have a bowel movement. The abdominal muscles kick in and don't know when to let go. It happens other times when I'm using my abdominal muscles more than normal. My general Doctor has tried a couple of relaxers that disolve under the toungue. They didn't work. He sent me to a Gastroenterologist. They tried a different relaxer that disolves under the toungue. That was no help. My probem is tring to figure out what kind of doctor would have some knowledge in this problem and be able to help. Its starting to look like I'm going to have to live with this. I really don't want that to happen.

Does anyone out there have this problem? Any advice will be appreciated. Knowing I'm not alone would be helpful too. Or, does anyone know what kind of doctor I should go to? Thank you for any input anyone provides.

perry1960: I'd say the gastro doc would be the right one. Have them test you for Celiac Disease. It's when your body can't digest the gluten in food. It causes stomache pains. They can also do a biopsy of the intestine to see if you've got it. Start looking at the food you're eating and try to eliminate stuff with gluten. You could also get checked for Chrone's disease and diverticulosis.
