a905i: will it mess up anything to update an unlocked phone?

Ok, so here is the situation: i bought an unlocked c905i off ebay so that i could get it with the wifi feature and i just want to make sure before i update it from the sony ericsson website that its not going to mess anything up due to the fact that the only version technically available in the US is the crippled a905a version without wifi so that is what the update is supposed to be for. Am i better off just not updating?
