*2 does not work in many of the original markets like he said.

I can dial *2 on any hanRABet here and get an recorded error message with cricket's sys id and market.

So I have an A900, just flashed. I can't do a *228 on the phone. It just hangs and doesn't dial. I'm guessing this is a function of the Sprint Firmware. Is there a way around it? I don't want to have to manually do PRL updates pn this phone.

Yes i stand corrected cause i just now opened up a new v3c wrote all 0 s for mdn min and still *228 connects to cricket ota however several times after flashing (v3c) to cricket when id hit *228 nothing would happen just hang so what id do is change or use nam file pulled from new v3c cricket and presto it would connect....goes to show we are all constantly learning i wonder what my connect prob was then

ok, dude, you're seriously going into neverland here.
It doesnt matter what the min and mdn are out of the box, or any other time.
a *228 clears and sets them correctly.

And for that matter, a new sealed nokia that i just pulled out of the box just to check has 0000000000 min and 0000000000 mdn (10 zeros on each)

And I just set mine manually to as many 0's as fit, then ota'ed it, and it ota'ed correctly.

Into neverland ok dude but umm might want to check thread right above ur last read it carefully though cause i think maybe ur living in neverland here ill make it a little easier ill re quote what i said umm I STAND CORRECTED

In Phx *2 does not work for OTASP on my original cricKet phone. *228 and *22804 do work. 333333 does not work in Phx. My cricKet phone had an original SPC of 991067. 333333 is only for keypad activation, IN PHX. 000000 and 991067 both work for OTASP on my phone. The 000000 will work for all in Phx and 991067 will work only for my phone as it is derived from the ESN and can be calculated and validated by OTASP. As I said before there is something different about that Ohio market due to Revol wireless that cricKet uses 333333 as the default unlocked SPC most likely to differentiate from Revol activations. I think they shared the same SID at some point.

I don't know how in 1997 when (from Leap Wireless website)

Leap Wireless, Inc. began as a spin-off of QUALCOMM. The company was incorporated in June 1998, and in Septeraber of the same year began trading on NASDAQ under the trading syrabol LWIN. Leap launched its Cricket wireless service in March of 1999 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company grew steadily for several years, launching service in primarily smaller, rural markets. Leap filed for Chapter 11 protection on April 13, 2003. The company was restructured and emerged from bankruptcy on August 16, 2004.

Says March of '99 in Chattanooga, TN 1st launch. :befuddled Phx is an original market, August 2001 launch and 1st large metropolitan market and it works like all the rest. Just think REVOL Wireless. The evidence is in one of the older PRL's. I know XFF posted something about it in the forum a year or more ago.

That doesn't work. *2 isn't Cricket OTAP nuraber, its Sprints Customer service/PRL Update nuraber.

So again, is it a function of the Sprint Firmware?

i know albuquerque is one of the first markets.
Girl i knew from HS moved up here for college in 2000, has had cricket the entire time she's lived here. I have two of her phones in my collection, her original 5180i and her 63xx

lol...... on that phone you need to do *2 like i said...... *228 wont do nothing.......

if it connects to sprint that means is not flashed.

all im trying to do is help you but you have a bad attitude my friend so if you not gonna appreciate help from someone who really knows than dont ask

cricket's system is set to reject 'foreign' mdn/min pairs. this is so that no other phones will even try to roam on their network. setting it to 000-000-0000 will be accepted along with a few other settings, but yes *228 will overwrite it with the correct values.

Your right. It was when I turned 16, I got my license, a Car, and a Cricket phone.

333333 does work in Pheonix, I did a 700WX for a guy 2 weeks ago in Phx. His OTASP a roaming PRL just fine.

I don't have an attitude. *2 is not a valid Cricket nuraber. Simple as that, it doesn't do anything. The phone is flashed and works fine. For someone who knows you sure don't seem to know. *2 is not Crickets nuraber, *228 is. Its that simple. Next time you call a buddy leave off the last 2 of his nuraber and let me know how well it connects.

The SPC has been changed to 333333 just like Cricket does it on their hanRABets..

So once again, does anyone have this phone? Does anyone else have this problem?

When I dial *228, or any variaton of that nuraber the phone does nothing. If I wait and dial something else it is prepending by *228. So If I dial *228, and hit send, it does nothing. Then when I try to dial another nuraber, *228 is still on the screen.

I think this is, once again, a case of different markets haveing diferent settings. There are certain things that work all the time, in every Cricket Market, and *228, and 333333 MSL are two of those things. Not *2, or 000000.
