A vehicle similar to a Ford Explorer?

Mazda had the sister to it "Tribute" but Chevy has the Blazer/Trailblazer Dodge has the Durango. Just about all foreign car companies have Explorer like vehicles. We have a 2006 Saturn Vue, its a great first car and we have had absolutely no problems with it. There is even a Hybrid version too.

It's going to be my very first car. I get my licenses in December, and I was thinking about a used Explorer, but Is there anything similar to that or anything thats good for a first car.

Thanksss

Well it depends on what you're looking at, number of spots for passangers, cargo space, amount of money you're willing to spend on a vehicle, how long the vehicle is going to last, how many miles you plan on driving per year, the odds of how much you're going to have to spend on service, if you're going to buy an extended warranty or not. There's tons of things that can factor into the equation for purchasing a new or used car. Trust me I would know I'm a Senior Automotive Sales Consultant by profession. By heart i'm a Ford lover but the Ford Explorer is a vehicle that is going to have tons of problems for you and that you are going to spend a fortune on as far as service goes. I couldn't specifically tell you what car is right for you, but I would suggest making a list of things that you want vs things you need in a vehicle and then go find something that meets them. Don't get to hasty either dealerships will try to get your contact information for the first step, 2ndly they will try to put you on a vehicle that they believe they will make the most profit on some vehicles have more mark-up then other vehicles depending on what the dealership paid for them. Some used vehicles have $1,000.00 mark up and some have $3,000.00 - $5,000.00 mark up. It's a tough thing to go through, buying a car when you think the salesman is going to try to rob you. My honest opinion, Check out a Saturn Dealership, I know from experience that the salespeople at Saturn are good, they aren't pushy, the vehicles are great, and the service writers are very knowledgable. Also the mechanics are very good at what they do. I drive a 1993 Ford F-150, and I also drive a 2008 Saturn Astra.

Either Way I hope this helps... if you do go to Saturn ask to look at their Vue's and their Outlook's... You'll probably like the Outlook the most, Very similiar in size to an explorer maybe even a little bigger. Then from their ask them what they have in used.
