taking bearings anticlockwise from the horizontal

Horizontal distance travelled = 8* cos300 + 6*cos 40 = 4+ 4.6 = 8.6
Vertical distance travelled = 8*sin300 + 6*sin40 = -6.93 +3.86 = -3.07
tan of angle of direction = -3.07/8.6 = -0.357
so angle= 360 - 19.7 = 340.3 degrees
distance = sqr 3.07^2 + 8.6^2 = sqr 9.43 + 73.96 =sqr83.39 =9.13 km
