Confused on what a recumbent bicycle is? A recumbent bicycle is defined as a bicycle that places the rider in a laid-back reclining position. This type of bicycle can be lower than the average bike, and the rider’s weight is distributed comfortably over several square feet of the back and buttocks, rather than on an upright bicycle, where the weight rests on the sit bones, feet, and hands.
